Onetime Pussycat Dolls guest performer Christina Aguilera is filming her big-screen debut in the movie musical “Burlesque,” which is being helmed by Steve Antin, brother of PCD creator Robin Antin. Robin said it’s great to see her brother and Aguilera working together on the flick because they bring something special out in each another.
“It’s going very well, and Christina’s great,” Robin told MTV News of the singer, who performed with the Pussycat Dolls revue in Las Vegas back in 2003. “It’s a great opportunity for her, and she’s really talented, obviously. She came and was a guest in the Pussycat Dolls, and that’s how that really happened; that’s how my brother met Christina. … I think the movie’s going to be very cool.”
The flick is about a small-town girl (Aguilera) who moves to Los Angeles to find fame in the big city as a singer. She eventually gets a job working in a nightclub. While Aguilera isn’t an entertainment-industry rookie like her character, this is her first big role as an actress. For those who aren’t sure Aguilera can pull it off, Robin insisted that she has the acting chops, a sentiment “Twilight” star Cam Gigandet recently shared with MTV News.
“She’s doing really well,” Robin said. “She’s very talented, and it’s great when you have a director like my brother, Steve. … He truly is one of the best directors. That’s what a good director is: It’s to get your actress, whether they’ve had experience or not, to be great.”
“Burlesque” hits theaters in November 2010.

You’re shooting another film with one of your musical idols…
Yes, I’m filming ‘Burlesque’ right now, and it’s fabulous. It has a huge, amazing cast. Christina Aguilera, Cher, Stanley Tucci, Eric Dane and Kristen Bell all star in it, and it’s just a great film. The storyline is great, and the dancing is phenomenal. And of course Christina sings her butt off in it!
Has Christina given you any tips about the music business?
Absolutely! She knows what she wants, and she’s phenomenal at everything she does. I was in the studio with her the other day and I was flipping out because she’s been my idol since she first came out, so it was just a really cool experience for me just being there and watching how she works. I was blown away! Her voice is so phenomenal, and hearing her sing these new songs is just amazing.

“Grey’s Anatomy” star Eric Dane will round out the ensemble cast of Screen Gems’ upcoming musical “Burlesque.”
Cher, Christina Aguilera, Stanley Tucci, Cam Gigandet, Kristen Bell and Alan Cumming have already boarded the project, written and to be helmed by Steve Antin.
Donald De Line will produce via his De Line Pictures banner.
Story centers on Ali, an ambitious small town girl with a big town voice (Aguilera) who finds love, family and success in a neo-burlesque club. Dane will play Marcus, a charming, successful businessman who offers to buy Tess (Cher) out of the burlesque club and vies for Ali’s heart.
Lensing began Nov. 9 in Los Angeles, and the pic is scheduled to be released for Thanksgiving 2010.
Dane’s recent film roles include “Marley and Me” and “X-Men: The Last Stand.” He will next be seen in New Line’s romantic comedy “Valentine’s Day.”
He is repped by CAA and Management 360.

“I’m excited. I’m really excited. It’s a different role for me,” she explained. “It’s kind of a departure, which is exciting. I don’t want to be pigeonholed as the bubblegum girl next door and this is getting back to my snarkier roots. There is a lot of dancing in the movie, which is intimidating, but I think Christina is unreasonably talented in pretty much every facet of her life. She has written music for the movie, which is crazy good. I’m excited to start.”

Christina Aguilera is getting stripping advice from Dita Von Teese.
THe world famous singer is set to play a burleseque dancer in new movie cleverly titled ‘Burlesque’, and has decided to enlist the help of the most famous burlesque artist of all time – Dita Von Teese – to ensure her moves are perfect.
“Christina is meticulous in her preparation for anything she does”, a film insider said. “She is already training hard to be ready for this role and has asked Dita for some coaching on the more technical aspects of burlesque dancing. She doesn’t want to have to use a double for anything if she can help it.”
Nice one Xtina! Can’t wait to see the movie, which also stars Kristen Bell, to see if you are as good as Dita.

I hope it’s true. I love them both!
Kristen Bell will star as Christina Aguilera’s rival in “Burlesque,” Screen Gems’ musical drama being directed by Steve Antin.
“Burlesque” centers on the journey of an ambitious small-town girl (Aguilera) with a big-town voice who finds love and success in a Los Angeles neo-burlesque club, reminiscent of the nightclub in Bob Fosse’s “Cabaret.” (Aguilera has guested in cabarets for the Pussycat Dolls.)
Bell will play Nikki, the loose-cannon lead dancer and main attraction at the club who spirals out of control when Aguilera’s character suddenly gets the spotlight.
Already cast are Cher as the nightclub owner and Stanley Tucci as the man who helps turn Aguilera from bumpkin to bombshell.
Shooting begins Nov. 9 with a release aimed for Thanksgiving 2010.
Screen Gems senior vp production Scott Strauss will oversee the project.

Last week we told you about Tricky Stewart’s involvement with Christina Aguilera’s fourth studio album, but what we didn’t reveal is that he’s also producing the score to her feature film debut Burlesque.
“I’m scoring her debut film with Cher right now,” Stewart tells Rap-Up.com. “It’s a theatrical musical, like a Chicago type of situation.”
The Screen Gems title, set to begin production next month, marks Aguilera’s big screen debut alongside Cher. She plays a smalltown girl who grows up in a Los Angeles neo-burlesque club run by Cher’s character, a former dancer.
Tricky described the direction for the movie’s soundtrack, due next fall. “A lot of the music is from a certain time period, so it’s a lot of remakes and her singing her favorite songs. Really, really interesting and creative stuff.”
He hasn’t had the chance to record with Cher yet, but remains optimistic. “Not yet, but hopefully.”
